Actress Tabu says her upcoming film De De Pyaar De explores several facets of a relationship and is not a story in which two women compete for the love of a man.

Directed by Akiv Ali, De De Pyaar De also features Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh.

The film revolves around a single 50-year-old father (Ajay) who faces disapproval of his family and ex-wife when he falls in love with a 26-year-old woman played by Rakul.

Tabu is the former wife of Ajay’s character.

When the trailer for the movie fell, several critics pointed out that the movie seems to follow the archaic template of women competing for the love and attention of a man.

However, Tabu said the film explores interpersonal relationships in a mature way.

“When I heard the story, I thought it was extremely nice. Definitely not about two women competing for a man. He is not mocking or humiliating everything. “There’s seriousness and maturity too and that’s the beauty of the movie,” Tabu told PTI.

The star of Andhadhun said that the film was written with Ajay and she in mind.

Having her longtime friend and the Golmaal star come back on board and the fact that it is not a movie with “laughter without meaning” made her return to the project.

“All the characters in the film deal with real problems. Their struggles or conflicts are not trivialized. If you’re in love with a girl in your 40s, it’s genuine. He is going through his own conflicts.

“My character’s journey after separating has also been shown, each relationship is highlighted and given space.”

Tabu said that the film tries to understand how two couples with the difference in age tend to see love and relationships.

“The way a couple in the mid-40s deals with their relationship, their definition of love and relationship will be different from that of a 27-year-old woman. Their insecurities are different and the topics varied. These are people who evolve and develop a unique relationship. ”
