Ajay Devgn does not believe in looking back or insisting much on the future, and likes to live in the present. The actor said he doesn’t care or think about stardom, and that helps him stay in touch with reality.

Son of veteran veteran action director Veeru Devgan, Ajay entered Bollywood in 1991 with ‘Phool Aur Kaante’. It was a success, and Ajay’s winning streak began there.

“Fortunately, I never had to go through a fight in my life. Everything fell into place. What I learned from my trip is to work hard,” Ajay told a news agency. He added that he does not believe in comparing himself to others, and does not look back, but looks at the present.

“I don’t get too carried away by success or get stuck because of failure,” said the actor, who is married to Kajol.

How do you separate yourself from your stardom?

“I don’t think so. I don’t care. I don’t go out much. I don’t show my power. I think Kajol and he don’t care. We’re happy in our space,” he said.

Hollywood star Ben Affleck said he doesn’t want his children to pay for his fame. Although Ajay agrees with him, he feels that it is not really possible.

“Yes (I agree with him). But can it be possible? I don’t know if that could be possible,” said the father of two.

Does the constant attention on Nysa and Yug bother you?

“It does hinder me. But I think children are also aware that if they inherit so many positive things from their parents, there will also be some negatives,” said the 50-year-old.

After 28 years in the industry and having worked on more than 100 films, Ajay is known as a star with many talents. He is an actor, director, producer and has even lent his voice to songs. All these things add more power to your star status.

For some fans, Ajay is the intense Bollywood hero who has won two National Awards. For others, he is the definitive action star, ‘Singham’ of Bollywood. Even others swear by their inexpressive comedy brand underlined by the hit films of ‘Golmaal’.

His choice of films has always been diverse, evidenced over the years by projects such as’ Vijaypath ‘,’ Diljale ‘,’ Gangaajal ‘,’ Omkara ‘,’ Drishyam ‘,’ Total Dhamaal ‘,’ Dilwale ‘,’ Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam ‘,’ Company ‘,’ Yuva ‘and the’ Golmaal ‘and’ Singham ‘franchises. He was last seen in the comedy ‘De De Pyaar De’.

“I love rotating genres, otherwise I will stop having fun. If I keep doing the same thing over and over again,” Ajay said. He added that hard work is the only mantra to survive in the industry.

“Otherwise, whatever you want or plan, everything fails,” he said.

He will then be seen in the period drama ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’, which also features Kajol, and will bring to the screen the story of the legendary footballer Syed Abdul Rahim in ‘Maidaan’. It is also said that another ‘Golmaal’ movie is on its way.

“I don’t plan for the future, ‘ke mujhe yeh karna hai ya yahan paunchna hai’. I just want to keep up with this pace and work all my life,” he said.
