Vidya Balan has started filming his next movie, Shakuntala Devi, in which he plays the lead role. For the uninitiated, Shakuntala Devi was a mental calculator that was also called a human computer. Only a few days after revealing Vidya’s first glimpse of the film, the creators announced that Sanya Malhotra was cornered to play her screen daughter Anupama Banerji in the movie. Sanya also shared his enthusiasm for getting this role.
Vidya Balan, who will soon be seen as the mathematical genius Shakuntala Devi, had a script reading session with Sanya Malhotra. Abundantia Entertainment, the film’s producer, shared Vidya “linking the script” with her co-star. Dangal’s actor will play Vidya’s screen daughter in the biopic.
The film went on sale in London on September 30 (Monday). Sanya even shared the news through her Instagram story and wrote that she was “super excited” to start a new journey.
Vidya’s first look as Shakuntala was recently revealed by the creators. Flaunting a short shake and wrapped in a red sari, the actress resembled the famous math wizard.

Vidya’s last project was the Mangal mission, starring multiple stars, alongside Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and HG Dattatreya. The film was also a hit among the public and crossed the Rs 200 cr mark in its fourth week.
Shakuntala Devi is directed by Anu Menon. He has previously written and directed the protagonist of Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari, London Paris New York, as well as the original Amazon Prime, Four More Shots Please. Anu has written the script of Shakuntala Devi together with Nayanika Mahtani. Ishita Moitra has written the dialogues. The creators have scheduled the film for a release in the summer of 2020.
